The influence of a new winemaker<\/h3>\n

Since October 2022, Luke O\u2019Cuinneagain has been the new winemaker at Vergelegen<\/strong>. He took over the position from Andr\u00e9 van Rensburg, who retired after 24 years. Luke himself was the winemaker at Glenelly Estate in Stellenbosch from its founding in 2007 until 2022 and played a key role in shaping its success.
Gradually but surely, his influence is becoming evident in the style of the wines at Vergelegen.<\/p>\n

The wines show less heaviness, more freshness and more precise fruit. Oak is used more deliberately to provide structure without overshadowing the character of the grapes. This style reflects the international trend towards finer, terroir-driven wines.<\/p>\n
