Day trip to the wine region
Whoever says Stellenbosch must also say wine
Some places unfold their magic when you explore them yourself. Stellenbosch is definitely one of them. Nestled in the idyllic vineyards of South Africa, it promises not only historical treasures, but also culinary delights and unrivalled landscapes.
Stellenbosch is also home to the Department of Viticulture and Oenology of the Stellenbosch University and offers a wide variety of activities throughout the year. There are over 350 different wine farms in the Stellenbosch wine region – from big famous names to tiny boutique wineries that grow and press their great wines in the back of one of the many valleys. The area stretches from Somerset West to the gates of Cape Town and from False Bay to the Banghoek Valley via the Helshoogte Pass.
The charming yet lively university town is an excellent starting point for visits to various wine estates and offers a wide range of accommodation options. Stellenbosch also boasts a large number of restaurants, pubs and wine bars, some of which are very popular, so there is something for every taste.

The best time to visit
Stellenbosch shows its most beautiful side in autumn. The climate is similar to that of Cape Town, but with less sea breeze. The town can be visited all year round, but the South African autumn and summer months are particularly recommended. From October to April, the weather is pleasantly warm and dry, ideal for exploring the scenic landscape on hikes or wine tours.
We hope to have provided you with a little Stellenbosch feeling! Here’s to a relaxing trip with great wines, delicious food and many unforgettable impressions. Have a good time!
