The nose is dark and intense with aromas of black cherries, cardamom, sweet tobacco, espresso and subtle scents. The dark fruit character of the nose continues on the palate with an exceptionally complex, juicy flavor with soft nuances of ripe plums, violets, black olives, cloves and licorice. The mid palate is concentrated, supple and elegant with very fine cocoa powdery tannins. The wine is medium-bodied, very balanced with an earthy, layered character that covers the entire spectrum of berry fruits – from tart red plums to rich blueberries and blackberries. The palate is well balanced with fine-grained tannins; the mainly red fruit is pure and nicely integrated with the oak. In the mouth it gradually builds to a salty finish and a slightly fishy aftertaste. It needs two or three years in bottle, but it should develop into a very fine Estate Reserve.
