The rich ruby-red color is complemented by a dense and interwoven complexity of plowed earth, nutmeg, bouquet garni, with classic cedar notes and red and black fruits. The wine remains classic, refined, with an elegant structure. The tannins are precise and, together with the skillful use of new oak, provide the perfect backdrop for the complex fruit spectrum. A long and youthful finish.

Vinifikation Kanonkop Estate is situated on the lower slopes of the Simonsberg Mountain in the Stellenbosch Region of the Western Cape Province and falls within the so-called Simonsberg Ward, generally regarded as the "red wine bowl" of South Africa. This area has built up a reputation both locally and internationally as South Africa's finest wine-growing area. Fermentation took place in open-top concrete fermenters at 29°C. The cap was punched down by hand every 2 hours during fermentation. The wine was drained after 5 days. After malolactic fermentation, the wine matured for 24 months in 100% new 225L French Nevers oak barrels.
