Creative Block 5 – 2018

This Cape Bordeaux blend was awarded 93 points by Tim Atkin and the best wine out of 1’300 wines at the largest local wine competition «Veritas». It has become increasingly popular with our customers over the years and is now our top seller.

The Spier Creative Block 5 is a symbiosis of the five Bordeaux grape varieties. It captivates with its ruby red colour. The nose has an impressive bouquet of blackberries, currants and a gentle cedar note paired with dark chocolate. The wine is spicy, lively on the palate and offers outstanding balance with its dense body and ripe, fine tannins leading into a long finish. The wine shows a pleasant drinking experience and makes an excellent food companion! Spier has been part of our KapWeine range for several years and offers excellent wines with a perfect price-quality ratio. Spier is a family farm that continues a long tradition. The farm was started back in 1993 by Dick van Enthoven. In 2004, his daughter Mariota Enthoven and her husband Angus took over the management of the farm.

Creative Block 3 – 2018

Spier has been producing a range of great wines for every budget for many years. The Creative Block wines show impressively that highly complex cuvées can produce very harmonious, elegant and powerful wines.

The Spier Creative Block 3 2018 is a blend of the three grape varieties Shiraz, Mourvèdre and Viognier. Deep red in colour with a youthful ruby rim and layers of aromas with subtle perfumed notes of violets, pomegranate, mulberries and spicy aromas of black pepper and coriander. The wine offers density on the palate with a complexity and silky tannins. The wine is complex and presents itself ready to drink now.

In the 21 Gables line, the best sites are used for this top-end range and highly complex, single-varietal wines are vinified. The Signature Range pampers the entry level with appealing wines for everyday consumption. The Frans K. Smith is the “Flagship” blend, which is only bottled in small quantities and is one of the best wines in South Africa.

Spier is a prime example of ethical farming. The health of the soil and the people as well as the care in the production have top priority. The grapes are harvested, de-stemmed and sorted by hand. 100% of the waste water is recycled so that 132ha of Spier’s organic vines can be irrigated when necessary.
