South African Pinotage Part 2:
tasting by Decanter
A few weeks ago we presented you a list with a selection of wines from Decanter magazine. Here you will now find the second part of it.
Decanter’s first Pinotage panel tasting took place in 1999. After 22 years, Decanter’s jurors met again to taste South African Pinotages. One hundred forty-two wines were tasted after two full days. Victoria Mason said afterwards that their expectations of the Juri were more than met.
As communicated in the last post, Mason said: «The tasting has shown that Pinotage shows a natural affinity for generous oak treatment – both French and American – and that it is equally comfortable when unoaked or aged in big, old oak.»
Today we would like to present the last six bottles and the scores from Decanter.
