tasting by Decanter
A few weeks ago, we presented a list of selected wines from Decanter magazine. Here is the second part of it.
Decanter's first Pinotage panel tasting took place in 1999. After 22 years, Decanter's judges met again to taste South African Pinotages. 142 wines were tasted over two full days. Victoria Mason then stated that the jury's expectations were more than met.
As communicated in the last post, Mason said: «The tasting showed again and again that Pinotage has a natural affinity for generous oak treatment – both French and American – and that it is equally comfortable unoaked or aged in large, old oak.»
