Trophy Wine Show
The Best Wines from South Africa
From June 13th to 16th, 2022, the judges of "The Trophy Wine 2022" met to evaluate South African wines.
The Trophy Wine Show is South Africa's most important wine competition, identifying the best wines, recognizing the achievements of the country's winemakers, and celebrating excellence in the wine industry.
The question now is: What does the jury evaluate? According to the show's guidelines, the jury assesses certification requirements, the market readiness of the wines, and the composition of blends from approximately 1000 South African wines.
Since the show's inception, the jury has been chaired by leading wine connoisseur Michael Fridjhon. However, he was accompanied at the event by three international and six local judges, covering a broad spectrum of expertise.
Furthermore, "a team of associate judges is selected from the pool of emerging South African viticultural, wine marketing, and wine writing talent who have qualified through the Wine Judging Academy, operated in collaboration with the Graduate School of Business at the University of Cape Town," states the Trophy Wine Show website.
