The Best KapWeine 20/21/22

Also in 2022, KapWeine crowns two new South Africans as their "WOY," which are available at a preferential price throughout the year.

From a KapWeine assortment of over 1200 wines, the best white wine and the best red wine are selected. The selection is not always easy, as a number of criteria must be met. For example, one of our aspects is how the winery and the wines have developed, or how approachable the wines are. Ultimately, we want to offer our customers an experience in the glass, or rather on the palate, at the best possible price.

Deep purple in color, inviting on the nose with notes of spice and dried herbs, followed by violet flowers and a hint of cedar and cigar box. On the palate, the Pitch Black is lush and soft, with notes of blackcurrant, cassis, anise, coffee beans and cedar. Finely packed tannins and fresh acidity make it an ideal wine for aging, rewarding careful cellaring over the next three to five years.

As always, one of the best value-for-money Chenin Blancs from all of South Africa! From average 30-year-old vines with a yield of only 600g of grapes per square meter. The excellent wine comes with aromas of melon, peach and guava along with a hint of minerality. With precise, lively freshness and well-coordinated elements such as fruit, density, elegance, which give the wine extraordinary complexity. In addition, masterfully integrated, light oak notes, caused by fermentation in barrels (no new barrels were used) and by amphorae to bring an additional dimension to the wine.
