Wineries:
Kapweine does not carry any wines from the Cape Agulhas wine region.
The majority of the coastal vineyards are located in the Elim district, very close to the southernmost point of the African continent, "Cape Agulhas". The picturesque village of Elim, founded in 1824 as a mission settlement by the Moravian Church, is now one of South Africa's national monuments. Strong cooling winds prevail in summer, ensuring a very cool ripening period. These are perfect conditions for growing Sauvignon Blanc and promising for Semillon, Pinot Noir, and Shiraz. Although the cultivation area is still very small, the development of this coastal district has already attracted a lot of attention and promises excellent potential.
The rainfall is a sufficient 800 to 1000mm per year.
