Fresh acidity and fine-grained yet grippy tannins provide structure, balanced by intense, spicy blackberry compote lingering on the finish.

Vinifikation The Estate Blend is Rust en Vrede's emblematic wine. The blend is composed of the proportions of the varieties planted at Rust en Vrede, making it the most honest reflection of our terroir. The grapes for this wine come from a 22-hectare Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard, a 7-hectare Syrah vineyard, and a 1-hectare Merlot vineyard, thus reflecting the estate's plantings. The grapes are all destemmed, crushed, and pumped separately into open fermenters. Maceration lasts 21 days with 7 days of fermentation, involving regular punching down and pumping over of the cap. The wine then matured for 22 months in 300L French oak barrels, 20% of which were new.
