Peat smoke dominates the nose, as soon as you pour the dram into the glass, you can smell it. There are some cereal and nut notes (flapjack?) along with a slight salinity - again, a hint of Islay. A little time in the glass and some air reveals notes of orchard fruits and berries. Gentle sweetness on the palate, honey or maple syrup, which is immediately overtaken by peat smoke, this time heather - perhaps similar to an Ardmore? Orchard fruits come to the fore again, there are some herbal notes and a little dried fruit. If you hold the whisky on your tongue, some citrus fruit emerges, then the smoke comes back and dries very much - delicious! Long-lasting smoke in the finish, with a little orchard fruit and honey.
