Product Description:
After the boldness of its predecessor, a taut and cerebral vintage. The nose reveals salted cherries, liquorice, and dark chocolate, as well as sweet spices of nutmeg and clove. The tannins are again tea-like and chalky, the acidity racy and fresh, softening somewhat in the glass as the fruit depth of the Vrede vineyard unfolds.

Vinifikation Bona Fide is the Latin term for "in good faith" and accordingly refers to our relationship with the vineyard owners, the Lötter family, with whom we have a 30-year friendship. Only a relationship based on absolute trust can ensure that the resulting wine does justice to this special place. Fermentation occurs spontaneously without the addition of commercial yeasts, with 70% fermented as whole grape bunches, the remainder destemmed but left intact as whole berries. The total time on skins was 5 weeks, after which the wine spent 11 months in French oak barrels, 20% of which was new wood.
