Each of the layers contributes to the complexity of the wine. "The Agnes" is taut and pure with a hint of mint and green apple. Fine floral notes, as well as a touch of butterscotch and pear, are also present. A magnificent wine that shows a beautiful balance in the 2022 vintage. The maritime climate and the partially high altitudes are distinctly cool in their aroma and lead to a very individual style. A lot of punch, stony character, and with luminous brilliance.

Vinifikation The Agnes Chardonnay is named after great-grandmother Agnes Floyd, who arrived in South Africa at the tender age of 14. She possessed a robust character and is considered the first lady in the city of Cape Town to hold a driver's license. This assemblage from several vineyards reflects Agnes's resilience and strength, with each vineyard contributing to the complexity of the final product. The grapes are sourced from five vineyards in the Hemel-en-Aarde and Overberg regions. Produced using the traditional method, where whole bunches are transferred directly from the harvest to the press and the juice is channeled into a settling tank. Spontaneously fermented and matured on the fine lees for 9 months in used oak barrels (228L and 500L barrels) and a foudre from the Stockinger cooperage. A magnificent wine that shows a beautiful balance in the 2022 vintage.
