Quite opulent with a touch of spice from oak aging, honey, and walnut. Very impressive and rich in the mouth, yet despite all its density and creaminess, the wine has laser-sharp precision.

Vinifikation The Hoë-Steen vineyard was planted in 1968 west of Malmesbury, towards Darling, in deep, red, iron and clay-rich soils. This block is late-ripening due to its south-facing slopes, and the vines were grafted onto rootstock one year after planting using a massal selection method. A few Cape Rieslings (Crouchen blanc), False Pedro, Palomino, Sémillon, and Clairette Blanche have since been discovered. For us, the vineyard remains predominantly Steen, and we see it as part of the Cape's old vineyard history, which we are privileged to work with. At the very end of harvest, this 2-hectare vineyard was picked in three passes, the grapes were hand-sorted, whole-bunch pressed, and aged for one year in old French oak barrels. The wine bears the Certified Heritage Vineyards (CHV) seal and is part of the Old Vine Project (OVP).
