On the palate, it is initially juicy and lively with fresh berry flavors, but then it becomes broader and deeper with gentle spice, earth, and crisp autumn leaves. It is delicate and refined, yet with wonderful fruit purity, seamless, silky tannins, and a supple smoothness and pliancy that is both seductive and powerfully graceful.

Vinifikation This fragrant Pinot Noir is made from grapes grown in a single, northeast-facing vineyard in the Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge. The 11-year-old vines are planted in Bokkeveld shale with a high clay content, approximately 300m above sea level. Due to a cool, wet summer, harvest occurred about ten days later than usual, following even bud break and slow but steady ripening. We believe in minimal intervention during winemaking. Fruit selection was a critical factor due to the conditions of the vintage. Grapes were sorted twice, first in the vineyard at harvest and again in the cellar. After natural fermentation, the wine matured for ten months on its lees in 228-liter Burgundy barrels, 25% new. The wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered and may show some harmless sediment over time. Only the best barrels were bottled.
