The Lake District Cartref SH 9C Syrah comes from a single vineyard plot in the western part of the Elgin region. When grown in cooler locations, this clone later develops into wines with a truly enchanting bouquet, a magnificent balance, and a hearty, robust character. Of medium body and weight, this Syrah presents with remarkable elegance, a refined tannic structure, and excellent fruit purity. Nuances of white pepper, fragrant violets and lavender blossoms, plum, and iodine are accompanied by a pleasant freshness and dynamism, as well as a lively acidity that lends the wine a successful precision.

Vinifikation Richard Kershaw's immense passion and love for South Africa's Elgin region and noble grape varieties form both the inspiration and the foundation of the Kershaw Deconstructed Syrah wine series, consisting of two different Syrah clones from two adjacent vineyard blocks in the western part of the Elgin region. The Lake District Cartref SH9C Syrah is a vineyard block that directly borders the block of the SH22 clone. The SH9C clone produces fuller wines with intense color and fine structure. The grapes for these first-class Syrahs were hand-picked and, upon arrival at the winery, carefully hand-sorted and fully destemmed. The berries fermented in open-top fermenters, after which the wine matured for 15-18 months in barriques. The wine was not fined before bottling and was only lightly filtered. Each bottle received an individual serial number.
