It is said that with Clara, Klein Constantia is aiming for a bolder, richer Bordeaux blanc style, featuring pear, pineapple, yellow grapefruit pastilles and a riper and rounder texture. The end result is simply superb. There is indeed more richness and complexity from the lees contact, notes of kiwi fruit, acacia wood, and an overall mellowing influence from the oak without the wine itself having overt oak character. Rich, intense, plush and structured, this is a truly grown-up Sauvignon Blanc with sensational concentration, intensity and length.
