From a Stellenbosch vineyard on slate soils. 100% whole bunch fermented and aged in older oak. Very expressive, archetypal aromas of red and black berries, rosemary, white pepper and spice, whilst the palate is particularly vibrant and energetic - beautiful pure fruit framed by a great line of acidity and fine tannins. With a modest 13% alcohol, this wine is exceedingly well rated and stands alongside the country’s finest examples.

Vinifikation The adventurous approach to this Syrah was inspired by the untamed, rugged nature of the vineyard from which it is sourced. Peppered with massive boulders of fractured shale and in close proximity to the unruly Atlantic of False Bay, the focus was on preserving the purity of fruit of one of the world's great red grape varieties. The grapes were fermented whole cluster to extract the full spectrum of fruit characters while retaining vibrancy and freshness. A year of aging in old French oak barrels softened the tannins, allowing for depth of flavor and an impressive presence while maintaining the brightness and life-affirming power of an expressive red wine. Bottles produced: 1250.
