The initial spicy notes are followed by aromas of blackcurrant, violet and a hint of cigar box. A full, round opening is complemented by cassis, dark berries and ripe cherries. The tannins are refined with wonderfully balanced acidity and great length. Appetizingly spicy undertones on the palate and a velvety, juicy mouthfeel. Delicate, elegant and perfectly ripe, the Vogelzang showcases two grape varieties assembled in the traditional South African context and their great potential.

Vinifikation The Cabernet Sauvignon component grows on a 16-year-old vineyard with decomposed granite Hutton soils and a south-easterly aspect, situated 80m above sea level. The Cinsaut comes from bush vines planted in 1973 with a westerly aspect on sandy duplex soils. The two grape varieties were fermented separately with natural yeasts in traditional open-top concrete tanks. The wine was then aged for 12 months in 25% new French oak barrels. Subsequently, the blend was assembled and the wine was bottled.
