Vinifikation Lourens Family Wines is a small family-run winery that officially launched in January 2016. Their goal is to produce honest wines that tell a story of the origin of the grapes and the passionate farmers who farm these special sites and vineyards. They want to make wines that have personality and character, but most importantly, taste really good! Their winemaking philosophy is quite simple and straightforward. They try to make their wines with minimal intervention in the cellar and strongly believe that their wines are mainly made in the vineyards. They add no yeast, acid, enzymes or fining agents and only use old oak barrels and clay pots for maturation. The grapes come from unirrigated bush vines in Piekenierskloof. Light extraction in the cellar. No addition of yeast, acid or enzymes. The wine matured for 9 months in old French barrels. Unfined and lightly filtered.
