Classic Bordeaux blend. The nose reveals traces of red berries with herbal and cedar notes lingering in the background. On the palate it is taut and fresh with fine chalky tannins and great length. The wine benefits from decanting at this stage. This first release of the "Signature Series" celebrates our valued partnership with Neill Ellis and his vision, which is continued by his sons Warren and Charl with this limited offering of 720 bottles. The cuvée consists of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.

Vinifikation Finally, the time has come! The first KapWeine Signature Series wine is being released to the public. After 23 years, our partner Neil Ellis has enticed us with this wonderful assemblage to launch the KapWeine Signature Series. This noble wine is intended to honor our collaboration with Neil Ellis and his team and to offer you, dear South Africa friends, the enjoyment of an absolute top wine at an absolute top price. And no! I neither picked the grapes in the vineyard myself nor crushed any grapes, nor did I do any barrel selection in the cellar or assist the Neil Ellis team with the assemblage. Our partners can do that much better on their own. During a visit to the wine farm, I practically stumbled upon these two barrels, which were intended for a CWG bottling, and "had to" try the wine after asking Cabernet specialist Warren why he wasn't bottling any Merlot; and if there was even any good Merlot in Stellenbosch... I should not have asked that question, because after tasting the Merlot-dominated assemblage and having lunch at Jordan Restaurant later, this first edition was born and duly celebrated.
