The Bosberaad has a slowly unfurling nose of dried pineapple, brined lemon and waxy lanolin complexity. On the palate, however, it is intensely powerful with a piercing and driving saline acidity setting the tone. This leads to a spicy and citrus-tinged energy that continues to a long and concentrated finish. It will need a few months to evolve to reveal all its attributes. This is a wine of definitive Swartland concentration, power and grip.

Vinifikation The grapes come from Waterval Farm in the Siebritskloof Valley of Paardeberg. The organically farmed bush vines were planted in 1980 on pure granite with granite sand overlay at 700 metres altitude on an east-facing ridge, which limits intense sunlight. The grapes were hand-harvested and pressed whole bunch directly into old French barrels and into a concrete egg, where the juice fermented and settled naturally. The wine was left on its lees and malolactic fermentation occurred naturally. After ten months of maturation, the wine was bottled without fining or filtration and with a sensible shot of sulfur dioxide.
