A complex wine with a fascinating nose of citrus, white peach, dried herbs, ginger, and spice that flows seamlessly onto the palate. On the palate, it has an interesting texture, with weight and depth and exceptionally pure fruit guided by a present acidity and a hint of almond skin. Exceptional fruit purity, driving acidity, and a pithy finish.

Vinifikation The main goal is always to make a wine that reflects the fresher and lighter side of the variety. At just 12.5%, the 2021 is fine, focused and has real energy. The main components come from the same high-altitude bush vines in Piekenierskloof, but this year, for the first time, about 10% came from a small new 'stok by paaltjie' vineyard planted on shale directly on Kasteelberg in the Swartland. As with the other white wines in the range, the grapes are whole-bunch pressed and transferred directly to tanks for fermentation without settling. This vintage spent 8 months on primary lees in concrete eggs and amphorae before being bottled. 4,250 bottles produced.
