Product Description:
The nose is initially shy, opening up majestically in the glass over time. Notes of olive tapenade, red berries, vanilla, and milk chocolate show its fine complexity and depth. On the palate it is darker, with a wild streak and a mineral core. A hint of roasted herbs and charcuterie leads to fine-grained tannins on a soft, fruity finish.

Vinifikation Established in 1694, Rust en Vrede is proud to be part of a remarkable three-hundred-year winemaking tradition. Since 1977, the Engelbrecht family has specialised in the exclusive production of red wine, with a focus on Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Owner Jean Engelbrecht has worked to establish Rust en Vrede as one of South Africa’s premium red wine estates, with full-bodied and complex wines that reflect the uniqueness of the Stellenbosch terroir. The Syrah was aged for 18 months in a combination of 300-litre and 500-litre French oak barrels.
