Product Description:
The 2022 shows a little more red fruit and spice due to the increased Syrah content. The wine shows plums, cherries, and blueberries with an underlying salinity of oyster shells. The tannins are somewhat softer than in 2021, resulting in a wine that is approachable young.

Vinifikation Malgas is not exactly around the corner, hence the name of the wine. Two plots on the Sijnn estate along the Breede River owned by David Trafford. The terroir is incredible, river stones on shale. One gets the impression that there is no soil, just a crisp, rocky walk through the Syrah and Touriga bush vines. Due to the extreme location, a high degree of sorting is required, especially with the 2022 vintage, where only half of the grapes were used for the wine. Perfect grapes were spontaneously fermented in open fermenters, with 10% of the Syrah grapes left as whole bunches. The fermented grapes were pressed in a basket press and matured in old 500-liter French oak barrels for 10 months.
