Product Description:
A regal berry red with ruby red at the rim. On the palate, blackcurrant and dark fruits are evident, with the slightest hint of cigar box. One can almost taste the tannins of this blend. They are firm and assertive, yet round, sweet, soft, and very delicate.

Vinifikation
The vines grow on the west and northwest-facing slopes of the Helderberg. Decomposed granite soils retain water well, allowing for slow ripening and increased mineral complexity. The area benefits from the cooling effect of the nearby Atlantic. The season was also wonderfully mild. This allowed the fruit to ripen without the need for rushed harvesting, developing excellent flavor concentration and velvety tannins. We worked every inch of these vineyard blocks, dedicating much time and care to each individual row of vines. Our team was constantly present. Producing a wine that yields this kind of character is labor-intensive. After hand-picking and carefully packing the berries into small 10kg bins, the berries were hand-sorted, destemmed, crushed, and pumped into a mix of 500L rolling barrels and small steel tanks. Fermentation and post-fermentation maceration took place in these barrels and tanks, where the juice remained on the lees for 3-6 weeks, or until we were 100% satisfied with the tannin content. We then drained the wine and transferred it to small French oak barrels for maturation to begin. Malolactic fermentation occurred in the small French oak barrels, followed by an extended aging period. Approximately 24 months after harvest, we made a selection from these already well-rounded blends. They were then returned to the barrels for another 6-8 months before the final selection was made in the barrels – the great moment when we can choose the best of the grape.
