The Zwartwater Red is the red counterpart to the White and also hails from the historic Lammershoek Estate on the Paardeberg in the Swartland. With this debut vintage, Stefan Johannes demonstrates how much elegance and freshness can be found in the red wines of this unique terroir. The base is Syrah, complemented by Carignan and a small portion of Mourvèdre. The glass glows with a vibrant ruby red. The nose is fragrant with violets, ripe raspberries, and blackberries, accompanied by wild rosemary and a pinch of white pepper. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, fresh, and delightfully juicy, with red plums, crisp raspberry, and a fine herbal note. The tannins are smooth and well-integrated, the finish dry and lively. A delicately fruity, elegant red wine that leaves you wanting another glass.

Vinifikation The grapes are sourced from the vineyards of the Lammershoek Estate, WO Paardeberg, Swartland. The cuvée consists of 68% Syrah, 27% Carignan, and 5% Mourvèdre. The wine was matured in a combination of used barriques, concrete, and 20% new French oak. Alcohol: 13.5% vol.
