Product Description:
With the Zwartwater White, the storied Lammershoek Estate on the Paardeberg opens a new chapter. Young Stefan Johannes, who took over the winery with his family, has named his first estate wines after the original family farm in Mpumalanga. The heart of the cuvée is Chenin Blanc, the great grape variety of the Paardeberg, complemented by Viognier, Hárslevelű, and Marsanne. In the glass, it reveals a radiant golden yellow. The nose is seductively aromatic with honeysuckle, golden apple, pear, and a hint of fennel, underpinned by a fine stoniness. On the palate, the wine feels light and ethereal yet multi-layered: grapefruit, peach skin, and orange zest meet a subtle note of honey. A touch of residual sugar provides roundness rather than sweetness, while the lively freshness and mineral tension carry it into a long, elegant finish. A white wine that is a joy to drink now and will continue to develop beautifully over the coming years.

Vinifikation
The grapes are sourced from the vineyards of Lammershoek Estate, WO Paardeberg, Swartland. The cuvée consists of 73% Chenin Blanc, 13% Viognier, 10% Hárslevelű, and 4% Marsanne. Around 30% of the wine was matured in concrete eggs, which imparts tension and texture, while the remainder was aged in wood with only a small portion of new barrels for added refinement. Alcohol: 13.5% vol.
