javascript:popupImageWindow('https://www.belvini.de/popup_image.php/pID/30648/imgID/0.html','500','553')The nose presents robust purple plums, black cherries, and perfume with a subtle hint of cut flower stems. On the palate, it is taut and needs a little time and air to reveal its layers of spicy violet and black berry fruits. A touch of oak provides both spice and structure, while the acidity ensures freshness and piquancy. Zesty, spicy, and savory with a long finish, it will reward patience.

Vinifikation
Due to a prolonged drought, possibly the worst in a century, the 2018 harvesting season was particularly challenging. The dry weather, which persisted throughout the season, had some positive effects, namely that the vines were in better condition and there was little to no incidence of pests and diseases. Due to the stress caused by the lack of water, the berries were significantly smaller than usual, resulting in a reduced harvest. Smaller berries offer higher color and flavor intensity, and the 2018 vintage is expected to be of high quality due to the milder temperatures during harvest. The grapes are hand-picked, packed into small crates, and transported to the cellar in a refrigerated truck. The whole berries are double-sorted in the cellar before being gravity-fed into wooden fermentation tanks. Each batch undergoes cold maceration for a few days and is then gradually brought to temperature, where fermentation occurs naturally. After fermentation, skin contact was extended. The wine was aged for 24 months in 50% new French oak before being bottled unfiltered and undergoing a further three years of bottle maturation. The grapes primarily originate from our Franschhoek vineyards, with a small portion from our Groenekloof vineyards.
