Product Description:
The 2017 Kokerboom is Sadie's pure Sémillon from 93-year-old vines. It has a very well-defined bouquet of yellow flowers, jasmine, and notes of orange pith. The palate is extremely well-balanced, with a perfect line of acidity, a waxy texture, and notes of white pepper, lemon curd, and a dash of sour lemon that lingers in the mouth. This is pretty profound.

Vinifikation The Kokerboom vineyard was even more drained than the Skurfberg vineyard, so the same effect was present... just accentuated. The result was that we actually decided to pick the right grapes as quickly as possible. Compared to the Chenin Blanc in Skurfberg, the earlier picking of the Kokerboom Sémillon Blanc and Sémillon Gris brought a clear difference: herbaceous and green aromas that normally do not belong to the character of this wine. We harvested so early to save the reserves in this vineyard, which was the most affected by the drought. Our suggestion is to age the Kokerboom 2018 for at least 5 years to then bring things to fruition. We produced less than 30% of the usual production, and there was nothing we could do about the drought. We did our best.
