The Syrah on Shale presents itself as extroverted, with dark red fruit aromas paired with fynbos nuances and a light hint of the traditional South African tapenade. On the palate, the wine reveals a powerful yet supple body. Juicy tannins that provide the bold structure also lend a beautiful length to the finish.

Vinifikation After the harvest, the grapes are immediately brought to the cooled cellar, where they rest overnight. 60% of the harvest is destemmed by hand, while 40% is pressed as whole bunches. The Syrah on Shale is wild-fermented and matured for 18 months in 225-liter and 500-liter barrels. 30% of the barriques are made of new French oak.
