What makes a South African rosé special? The diversity of grape varieties. This set presents six rosés from six different grape varieties side by side: from Pinotage, South Africa's national grape, to Burgundian Pinot Noir and Provençal Mourvèdre, as well as Cinsault, Syrah and a Bordeaux blend. Each bottle tells a different story, all are dry, fresh and ready to drink. Ideal for a rosé comparison on the terrace, as a summer stock or as a gift for anyone who thinks they already know rosé.

• De Grendel Rosé 2023 50% Pinotage, 50% Cabernet Sauvignon from Durbanville, just 7 km from the Atlantic. Watermelon, raspberry, passion fruit, crisp and fresh. An all-rounder for warm evenings.
• Beyerskloof Pinotage Rosé 2020 100% Pinotage from the "Home of Pinotage" in Stellenbosch. Old bush vines, light and fruity, with berries, fig and a hint of mocha. South Africa's most iconic rosé.
• Haute Cabrière Pinot Noir Rosé 2022 100% Pinot Noir from Franschhoek. Floral, captivating, with strawberry and rose petals. Burgundian elegance at the Cape, from the von Arnim family.
• Kleine Zalze Cinsault Rosé 2022 100% Cinsault from Stellenbosch and Paarl. Delicate, with wild strawberry, pomegranate and soft rose petals. Light-footed and refreshing.
• Babylonstoren Mourvèdre Rosé 2023 100% Mourvèdre from Simonsberg. Provençal style, official rosé of the Chelsea Flower Show in London. Strawberry, rose petals, watermelon, pomegranate, crisp acidity.
• Glenelly Le Rosé de May 2022 100% Syrah from Simonsberg. Inspired by the dry rosés of Provence, vinified without added sulfur. Wild strawberry, cranberry, spices, full-bodied with a long finish.

Vinification

• De Grendel Rosé 2023: 50% Pinotage, 50% Cabernet Sauvignon. Short skin contact, cool fermentation in stainless steel. The Pinotage provides the fruit, the Cabernet Sauvignon structure and acidity. Durbanville (Tygerberg).
• Beyerskloof Pinotage Rosé 2020: 100% Pinotage from 12 to 18-year-old bush vines (Hutton and Clovelly soils). Short skin contact, cool fermentation, partial malolactic fermentation. Dry, light, fruit-driven. Stellenbosch (Bottelary Hills).
• Haute Cabrière Pinot Noir Rosé 2022: 100% Pinot Noir. Hand-picked, gentle processing in the multi-level gravity cellar (no pumps). Short skin contact, fermentation in stainless steel. Franschhoek.
• Kleine Zalze Cinsault Rosé 2022: 100% Cinsault from selected parcels in Stellenbosch and Paarl. Short skin contact for the delicate color, cool fermentation in stainless steel. Dry, unoaked.
• Babylonstoren Mourvèdre Rosé 2023: 100% Mourvèdre. Minimal skin contact in the press, cool fermentation in stainless steel over three weeks. One month on fine lees. Small portions fermented and aged in Nomblot concrete eggs and clay amphorae. Dry, unoaked. Simonsberg-Paarl.
• Glenelly Le Rosé de May 2022: 100% Syrah. Whole bunch pressing at low pressure for light color. Fermentation in stainless steel, tannins instead of sulfur to protect the wine. Vinified without added sulfur. Dry, full-bodied. Stellenbosch (Simonsberg).

Goes well with: Aperitif, grilled fish, prawns, summer salads, chicken, light pasta dishes, sushi, antipasti, pizza, tapas and mild summer evenings on the terrace.
