Product Description:
Bottled earlier than previous vintages to preserve the fruit. Some reduction and a rather earthy character precedes red and black fruits, herbs, pepper, and spices. Full-bodied with fresh acidity and firm tannins, it has a slightly rustic quality, although it is certainly not lacking in flavor. Sweet upfront, but very dry on the finish.

Vinifikation Donovan Ralls' commitment to his vineyards is evident in these new releases. The 2018 vintage was a challenging one, especially in the Swartland, which is why he spent time in the vineyards every day until the harvest. Donovan says this was the only way he could keep a handle on the harvest period. As I looked through his latest releases, I was impressed by their commanding nature and attention to detail. The 2017 Rall Red and 2018 Rall White are his most defined and best to date. From the 2017 vintage onwards, this Rall Red is significantly more structured and serious in style than previous creations. There are drier, firmer tannins that require 3–5 years before drinking.
