Product Description:
This single vineyard Syrah from granite soils displays its characteristic intensity of color, aroma, and flavor. Concentrated aromas of blackberries, blueberries, and plums blossom alongside notes of star anise, black pepper, and cloves. Sweet tobacco and oak from vanilla pods are present both on the nose and palate, beautifully complementing the opulent fruit. This is a seductive wine from the 2016 vintage that, with its abundance of fruit and inherent structure, can age for a decade or more without difficulty.

Vinifikation The Single Vineyard Syrah was conceived by Jean Engelbrecht as his generational contribution to the family legacy. A pure expression of only the best Syrah Rust en Vrede has to offer. The grapes are harvested from our oldest and finest Syrah block on the property. Malolactic fermentation took place in barriques and further aging for 16 months in 500-liter French oak barrels, 50% of which were new wood.
