Dense, rich plum, ruby red. Fantastic intensity! Beautiful, seductive aroma of plums, red and black berries, almonds and coffee with toffee, as well as classic pencil shavings, cigar boxes and cassis. Elegance that fills the mouth, with a cashmere feel of finely interwoven tannins in abundance. It first presents an intricate, convoluted, sweeter, dark berry fruit. A fine balance of acidity and minerality helps harness the youthfulness.

Vinifikation The grapes come from carefully selected clone material from vineyards with a variety of soils, from deeply decomposed granite to stony, decomposed Table Mountain sandstone. The vines, ranging in age from 10 to 22 years, produced unadulterated fruit. As usual, the assemblage was carried out in consultation with Pierre Lurton and winemaker Henry Kotzé: "This is a Morgenster Reserve, so expect nothing less than astonishing. These wines are made from the Schapenberg slopes to create memories from today to 20 years from now," he says. The wine is aged for 18 months in 60% new French oak barrels.
