The wine shows an enchanting nose of blackberries, cassis, cherries, vanilla, cedar, tobacco, dark chocolate, coffee, smoke, pepper, paprika, cloves, mint, ivy, marzipan, hawthorn, and violets. On the palate, it is fleshy, very juicy, velvety, with lots of dark fruit, muscular elegance, complex, finely woven tannins, enormous density, spicy, with seductive charm and a very long finish.

Vinifikation The mother of owner Lars Maack lent her good name to this Bordeaux-style wine, and consequently, a great deal of effort was put into ensuring its quality. The Buitenverwachting Christine is aged for several months in French oak barriques and embodies - like the confluence of two oceans near the Cape of Good Hope - power and finesse. This cuvée of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot matured for around 24 months in new French oak barriques.
