Stone fruit, beeswax, quinces, caramel, vanilla, white flowers and salt – the Skaliekop Chenin Blanc spans a spectrum that integrates aromas not commonly found in wine. Contrary to what one might assume from the aroma description, the wine makes no concessions in terms of residual sugar. A lively acidic structure meets a creamy texture, resulting in a compact, dense, and dynamic body. The finish is long, persistent, and mineral. It is definitely only at the beginning of its development.

Vinifikation Together with a handful of like-minded winegrowers, they cultivate vineyards in various terroirs of the region, specifically seeking out old bush-vine (Gobelet) vineyards and rather mountainous topographies to best realize their idea of a perfect wine – balanced, elegant, puristic, cool, mineral. Skaliekop translates to "hill of shale." The hill was planted with Chenin Blanc in 1985 and is farmed organically and, surprisingly, without irrigation. As always with David & Nadia, harvesting is done by hand, fermentation starts spontaneously, and the wine is aged on the lees in two used 300-liter wooden barrels. In total, just under 800 bottles were produced.
