Vinifikation Van Loggerenberg Wines was founded by Lukas and his wife Roxanne with their first vintage in 2016. The 2020 vintage marks the fifth release for Lukas—a rising star, Young Gun, and Tim Atkin's 2018 Young Winemaker of the Year. Lukas grew up in Rawsonville in the Breedekloof Valley and was always surrounded by vineyards and wine. His wines are produced in Devon Valley, and the grapes are sourced from Stellenbosch, Paarl, and Swartland. Each wine and its name has a specific story behind it, and his wines have become highly sought after. The name Breton is derived from the old French term in the Loire for Cabernet Franc. We chose this name because it was in the Loire Valley that we made the definitive decision to establish Van Loggerenberg Wines. This is a blend from three vineyards, all planted on granite soils in Polkadraai. Two of the three vineyards are fermented with whole bunches, which contributes to aromatic spice and herbal notes, before being aged for 10-11 months in old oak.
