Product Description:
A dense, almost impenetrable, ruby red wine that reveals incredible intensity in the colour of its core, framed by a vibrant yet firm magenta rim. The extremely complex Five 2013 presents itself in many different layers as the wine is opened and allowed to breathe. The initial impression is of a luscious, dark, fruit-driven bouquet with aromas of black plum, blackcurrant, and reduced black sour cherries. For a fleeting moment, these characteristics consume the senses, but quickly give way to the underlying aromas of cedarwood and graphite. The dense dark fruit flavours flow seamlessly from the nose to the palate, where silky, polymerised tannins cut through a fresh minerality, creating an excellent mouthfeel with a rounded, structured finish that bodes well for the next sip. This is a focused and elegant blend with fine-grained tannins that reflects the coolness of the 2013 vintage in Constantia.

Vinifikation 29% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Cabernet Franc, 20% Merlot, 16% Petit Verdot and 6% Malbec were aged for 19 months in 80% new and 20% second-fill French oak barriques (225 liters). The wine was bottled on January 13, 2015, with only a light filtration to clarify the wine. The powerful structure of this wine, attributed to the cool 2013 vintage and meticulous attention to all winemaking practices in both the vineyards and the cellar, as well as the vibrant concentration of complex aromas, will further enhance bottle aging under proper storage conditions for 10 - 15 years from the harvest.
