Product Description:
This vintage may be the most powerful yet. Tight and dense, the nose shows intense fruits – especially strawberry, cranberry, and sour cherry, while tomato leaf, nutmeg, cinnamon, olives, light woodsmoke, and damp moss deepen the complexity. On the palate, cocoa, black cherry, and a hint of mint are reminiscent of Black Forest cake. Skillfully integrated tannins and a fresh acidity will combine with the dense fruit core, allowing for cellaring beyond 2035.

Vinifikation Bona Fide is the Latin term for “In good faith” and appropriately refers to our relationship with the vineyard owners, the Lötter family, with whom we have a 30-year friendship. Only through a relationship based on absolute trust can the resulting wine do justice to this special place. Fermentation occurs spontaneously without the addition of commercial yeasts, with 70% fermented as whole grape clusters, the remainder destemmed but left intact as whole berries. Total time on skins was 5 weeks, after which the wine spent 11 months in French oak barrels, 20% of which was new wood.
