Vinifikation In the year before the vineyards that give this wine its name were planted, scenes from a film about the life of Napoleon were shot on the grounds. This Cuvée is a selection of barrels made from these individual vineyards, a prime site on the Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge carefully developed to produce the highest quality Pinot Noir, planting high-density vines with disease-free Dijon clones. Fermented with native yeasts only with a ratio of whole grapes (60%) to whole bunches (40%) in a stainless steel tank. Total time in tank was 31 days. The wine was then transferred to barriques (25% new) where it aged for 11 months before bottling.
