Product Description:
The wine shows a garnet red color with delicate fruit, pencil lead and spice on the nose, followed by tertiary notes of umami, meat, and mushroom. On the palate, somewhat rustic, coarse tannins with restrained cassis fruit are integrated into the fine acidity, making the GVB a wine that reflects the terroir of Vergelegen.

Vinifikation Only grapes from the Rondekop vineyard are used for the production of Vergelegen GVB. The soils are granite with a deep layer of clay and pebbles, offering excellent water retention capacity. The must is fermented with native yeasts, and the wine macerates on the skins for another 3-4 weeks. Maturation took place in 100% new 225l Sylvain barrels, with at least 5 rackings over a period of 19 months.
