The Treinspoor presents a crisp, well-defined bouquet of blackberry, heather, and wild fennel scents that gain intensity in the glass. The palate is very well-balanced with a fine bead of acidity. Taut and crisp, almost pixelated in style, it leads to a sensuous, mulberry-tinged finish. Very elegant and refined.

Vinifikation Tinta Barocca, an old Portuguese grape variety, has a long tradition in the Swartland and thus historical significance at the Cape. The vineyard, with its bush vines (Gobelet system), was planted in 1974 on weathered granite near an old railway line (hence the name) and yields a deeply coloured red wine with fresh acidity and all the attributes of a great wine. Tinta Barocca is usually a popular blending partner.
