Vinifikation The Ignis Pinot Noir comes from a north-facing slope in the upper Hemel-en-Aarde Valley. The vineyard is organically farmed and is interspersed with rounded pebbles on the soil surface and underlying decomposed granite. The Latin word "ignis" means "fire" and refers to the fact that granite is an igneous rock formation - "from fire to stone". The wine was matured for 11 months in 24% new French oak barrels.
