Product Description:
The vineyard is in very good condition, and this year the last 100 vines will be planted, to be re-grafted and refined next year. Over the last 15 years, the wine has gained elegance, underpinned by immense texture. The 2022 Mev Kirsten displays tropical fruits, leaning towards fresh apricot, ripe peaches, and pears. Firm tannins and a grippy acidity support these somewhat riper and larger fruit aromas. The wine's structure and fruit volume are incredibly concentrated, without being sweet in any way.

Vinifikation This 1-hectare Chenin Blanc parcel, most of which was planted in the 1920s, is the oldest in the country. Unfortunately, the old vines are slowly dying, which is why they require extensive preservation. Eben discovered this site in the Jonkershoek Valley, at the foot of Bothmaskop in the heart of Stellenbosch, by chance and persuaded Mrs. Kirsten to look after this vineyard. In the last three years, significant investments have been made in this vineyard, and this is noticeable on many levels, not only in the vines and the chemistry of the grapes but in all areas. The wine is produced without any additives and as naturally as possible. The grapes are pressed as whole bunches and fermented spontaneously. The Mev. Kirsten is not refined or altered, as Eben Sadie believes that it is not about bottling the best wine in the world, but the most honest wine. It is important that the wine shows its true character and its terroir. The wine ages for 12 months on its lees in wooden barrels and foudres.
