Vinifikation An exclusive soil, consisting of weathered shale, has consistently produced the best quality Pinotage at L'Avenir. Block 2 is located at the heart of this special site, on the highest point of the L'Avenir hill. The first single-vineyard wine from Block 2 was produced in 2004. This marked the beginning of one of South Africa's most iconic wines. The 2019 vintage is characterized by its freshness and elegance. After the grapes were hand-sorted, destemmed, and gently crushed, they remained in a tank for three days for cold maceration before fermentation began with natural yeasts. Fermentation took place in both stainless steel tanks and French oak barrels. The wine was matured in 300-liter French oak barrels, approximately 15% of which were new. Only the best 14 barrels were selected for the final blend.
