Product Description:
Africa's only indigenous red wine cultivar, from the parent grapes Pinot Noir and Hermitage (Cinsault). Stylistically, we focus on the fruit and characteristics of Pinot Noir. An elegant, round wine with soft, juicy tannins, with sweet spices, cassis, ripe berries, and candied orange peel on the nose. Rooibos blends with the smoky charcuterie character, which continues on the palate with a savory finish.

Vinifikation The oldest soils in the world for viticulture consist of decomposed granite on the lower slopes of Helderberg. This vineyard enjoys refreshing cool breezes from False Bay (Atlantic Ocean) during the day and cool night air flowing down the mountain. This has led to even ripening of the berries and good natural acidity. The macroclimate is maritime, with cold, wet winters and sunny, warm summers. The grapes were hand-harvested and sorted before being partially transferred into small containers and the rest into stainless steel tanks. Fermentation took place on native yeasts (without the addition of commercial yeasts) for approximately 14 days, followed by barrel aging in a specially selected combination of 20% new and 80% used French oak barrels for 16 months.
