Wow - a very deep and dense blue-violet is already visually appealing in the Pinotage Block. It has a very typical and powerful aroma of spices, sweet smoke, plum, and ripe dark cherries. In the mouth, the wine then unfolds its great fruitiness. It tastes powerful and round with silky tannins and very subtly integrated barrique notes.

Vinifikation Liza Goodwin vinifies a wonderfully profound Pinotage Block from one of South Africa's three oldest Pinotage vineyards, from vines over 60 years old. The yield from this certified single vineyard "Heritage Block" is very low at 3 tons/ha. The grapes are harvested by hand in the early, cool morning hours and fermented in traditionally open top fermenters. The skins are punched down into the must six times a day to allow the fine tannins and color to extract from the skins into the must. The wine then matures for 18 months in barriques. Even today, the Pinotage Block shows great complexity and balance. At the same time, it still has 5 – 8 years of aging potential and will continue to develop gracefully.
