Product Description:
The aromatics are rather restrained, showing notes of lavender, cured bresaola, iron, graphite, and savory blackberry spice. The texture on the palate is incredibly elegant and fine-boned, with silky-soft, dry, powdery tannins and a gentle, cool finish that contains blackberries, black peppercorns, and a subtle maritime salinity. A very fine, supple, and complete expression of Syrah.

Vinifikation Produced in tiny quantities from a salty, wind-swept, and battered 0.38-hectare Syrah vineyard near Fish Hoek in Cape Town. These gnarled, 15-year-old trellised vines, originally planted on sandy, ornamental gravel soils, now yield some of the best Syrah grapes in the entire Western Cape. The process involves using 50% whole clusters for fermentation, followed by a two-week maceration on the skins. Malolactic fermentation takes place in neutral 600-liter French oak barrels, followed by a further 11 months of aging.
